Marcia Hargreaves has been drawing since 3-years of age. By the age of 6, her talent progressed from simplistic renderings to 3-dimensional portraits. At age 8, Marcia began her formal education in Dayton, Ohio, with noted artist, Irene Miracle. Ms. Miracle trained Marcia in the proper use of acrylics, oils, pastels, pen and ink, gouache, pencils, watercolors, charcoal and a variety of other mediums.

Marcia moved with her family to Washington, D.C., at the age of 12, where she continued her studies through the tutelage of artist, Barbara Thelin Preston (North Light Books). Marcia further expanded her studies at the Corcoran Museum of Art and the Printing-Lab of the National Museum of American Art.

At age 17, Marcia received an internship at the Smithsonian Museum, working in the Renwick, Corcoran, Freer and National Portrait Galleries. She also worked at the National Museum of American Art.

Marcia currently holds degrees in Painting, Printmaking and Art History. She is the recipient of the 2nd Place Award in the Seventh Biannual Graphics Exhibit at the National Museum of American Art, and dual Honorable Mention Awards for artwork displayed at the Corcoran Museum. Marcia was the youngest artist selected for a cultural exchange show that toured Russia in 1985 consisting of 21 American Women Artists.
Marcia has work showing nationally in many galleries including New York and Texas.
Marcia loves Plein Air painting and has enjoyed exploring Texas, Canon Beach, Oregon, Ghost Ranch, Santa Fe, Taos, and Colorado.
